Is anyone thinking of recreating fandom_aid to help with Katrina? I've seen a couple of independant posts but do the mods have any intention of doing another big thing like before? Just wondering because if so I want to participate.

I can make 4 icons/$1 for Red Cross--from any HQ picture, any fandom. If you are wondering if I could do your picture, send it over. I usually can make a ton per picture, although that depends on the quality. Examples of my icons are available at my journal, bitemev_v, and if you take one, please donate $1 for every 4 you take, or .25 cents per icon. If you donate at Home Depot, you are matched dollar for dollar.

Please give to support the recovery efforts. If not the Redcross then find a worthy cause. *These icons are multifandom.

All I ask is that you donate $1 for every icon you take.

I will also take non-animated requests if you provide the picture, colors, text, etc.....

Well, as of midnight tonight, everyone who contributed fiction, icons, videos, etc. to the Fandom Aid Store will still be around, should feel free to archive their work anywhere else they like - thank you all for letting the Fandom Aid Store have exclusive use of what you created! We raised a considerable sum of money (in the neighborhood of US $2000 for tsunami relief charities) and everyone got a lot of great stuff out of it, so thank you, everyone who contributed their work, and everyone who donated to charity!

Also, as my parner in crime, bigboobedcanuck mentioned in a post the other day, thanks to the generosity of talitha78 we have a few prizes for our contributors.

The prizes are the "Carnivale" Season 1 DVDs; "Farscape" Season 4 DVDs; and "Horatio Hornblower" - I believe they are all Region 1 DVDs only, however (though if talitha78 could confirm that, we'd be grateful.

And the winners, chosen at random by my drawing names out of a, well, a bowl (not a hat!) are:

I just read through the comments on all the posts at the Fandom Aid Store, and based on the following assumptions (everyone who commented on the posts donated the amount we suggested and that they donated the minimum amount unless explicitly stated otherwise) and on some information that people have given me privately, I estimate that we have raised at least TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS for charities contributing to the tsunami relief.

That's $2000 above and beyond whatever individuals have already donated, so I think it's safe to say that in the week since we "opened", we've done very well indeed!

bigboobedcanuck and I would again like to say thank you SO MUCH both to our contributors who so generously gave their time and talents to making fun and pretty things for the store, and to everyone who's donated to this very worthy (and needy) cause. We're both kind of fried, but it was so, SO worth it.

So far we have over 100 posts (so that's well, well over 500 items, I'm thinking, considering how our icon-makers went wild ;)) at The Fandom Aid Store, and I've gone through and organized the links by fandom, so I hope it will be easier for people to find what they're looking for. We were hoping to use the LJ Memories function for this sorting, but the memories have gone kaputt so this is our best alternative.

If you're a contributor, please make sure we got all the info right - we've got fandoms from "Alias" to "X-Men" represented, and we don't know all of them, so please let us know if there's anything that's not quite on the mark. (Also, if you're having technical difficulties with sending us anything, please know that we will accept and post stuff for a bit longer - all your hard work should not go to waste. Just drop me or bigboobedcanuck a note and we'll work something out!)

If you're a consumer (and of course, donor - and of course, we can all be both), I hope the links organized the way they are will make it easier to browse, and get to know some new authors/ icon-makers, etc., or even a whole new fandom. (Personally, I seem to have amassed a great deal of knowledge about "Queer as Folk" even though I've never watched a single episode of the show. Brian Kinney is sex, apparently! Hee!)

Once again, a HUGE thank you to EVERYONE who's participated (and continues to participate) - authors, iconners, vidders, artists, screencappers, and above all, the lovely folks who come read/ take/ watch and donate! You're all fantastic. I'm verklempt!

The Fandom Aid Store is live! Thank you to all our fabulous contributors who’ve provided icons, fic, screencaps, and all kinds of goodies in a variety of fandoms. (NB: Just a warning that you may not want to "friend" the FA_Store - just bookmark the site instead - as your f-list is likely to be flooded with only Fandom_Aid entries… But you know, if you’re good with that, that’s fine too!)

We don’t have everything up yet (because of a confusion about the deadline for submission, which BBC & I apologize for most heartily!) so there will be more tomorrow - please check back. After we've got everything uploaded, is going to post master-lists of the links here for easier “shopping.”

If you’re wondering about the order of posting – it was more or less in the order in which we received things from contributors; we've (mostly) separated out fics (as they're longer) so you may have multiple links to your contributions, but with icons and graphics we tried to keep everything in one post for the most part.

Also, wherever possible I’ve tried to upload pictures on the FA-Store’s galleries but in some instances (massive numbers of screencaps & moodthemes), it wasn’t really feasible to do this so I’ve just posted links and trust to everyone’s grasp of netiquette to make sure our contributors’ bandwidth is not exceeded! I hope you will understand. We don't have the capacity to host zip files, so if you've made a mood theme, please shoot me an e-mail because I think we've figured out how to do those.

If your contribution has been posted already, you should have received an e-mail from me entitled ‘Fandom Aid Contribution’ which points you to the link where your stuff is so you can pimp the heck out of it in your own LJ and wherever else you would like. (A couple of you got the e-mail a day early because I couldn’t differentiate between “send” and “save as draft” and for that I apologize!) If you haven’t gotten such an e-mail yet, it’s because we’re still in the process of posting your stuff, but you will have it soon. Remember to bookmark the link, so you can check back for all the lovely feedback I’m sure you will be receiving! Also, if you have heard from me regarding your LJ username, and I haven't sent you another message saying "yes, I found it" could you please get back to me ASAP, so I can post your contribution and you'll get all the credit?

OK, bigboobedcanuck and I have come up with a plan; the momentary hiccup in our plans for posting has been resolved and all systems are go.

So, here’s how we’re going to do this:

1) Please e-mail submissions (fic, icons, mood themes, etc) to me (queenofthorns @ livejournal.com or fandomcares@livejournal.com).

1a) If it’s text, I’d really appreciate it if you could put in LJ codes for anything like italics, bolds, etc.

1b) If it’s pictures that are very large – screencaps, mood-themes – feel free to e-mail me a link. I can download and reload them to the “store” website and that way they’ll be posted.

1c) If you are fulfilling a request that someone made, please be sure to include that information in your e-mail.

1d) Please remember to include your LJ username, so we can credit where credit is due.

2) We’d hoped to have the “store” up on the 14th, and we will definitely have lots of stuff, but I realize that we weren’t very clear by what exactly the “deadline” meant – deadline for submissions or deadline for posting… We should have said the deadline for submissions was the 13th, but I know lots of people are really counting on that extra day, so I’m just going to say, please, please, please, if there is any way you can have stuff to us by the 13th, we’d be EXTREMELY grateful, but we will accept submissions until midnight on the 14th (no later, though, because our "store" needs its inventory ;))

3) We’ll be posting links to all the contributions HERE, so check in, get the linkage, and pimp the heck out of yourselves in your own LJs, communities, etc.

4) We’ll also be posting the suggested donations to the charities listed here on the main page. It’s an honor system, but we know everyone’s going to do the right thing.

5) If you read stuff, take icons, screencaps, whathaveyou, please be sure to comment – it’s the only way we can have any sense of how much money we may have raised for charity. Also, contributors, make sure you check back on the links to your stuff and see how much people love what you’ve done.

OK - thanks to raebird for the 411 - apparently you can't backdate community journal entries, which kind of means bigboobedcanuck and I are coming up with another plan right now...

If you've already e-mailed me stuff, please sit tight (and I know some people are either away or not able to host the pictures so we may have to find a different solution for them) and if you haven't, please hang on to it while we figure out Plan B.
